Work Time

When are you most productive?

When I started writing seriously, I lived on the US East Coast. I woke up early-ish, had some toast and coffee and started writing. I had a few hours in the morning to write before a short (20 minute) walk to work and my non-fiction-writing day job.

Now, I live in the desert, and work on Pacific Time.

The folks I associate with in my US East Coast non-fiction-writing high-tech day job are already doing stuff when I wake up. There’s no morning writing time anymore.

I don’t think I want to start waking up at 0300 to get some writing in before folks at work start looking for me.

For the last month, I’ve been living out of suitcases, and having breakfast at coffee shops. My morning writing isn’t cramped by the coffee shop, it’s cramped by having to use my work computer and do day-job work.

I think I can get into a “write in the evening” kind of habit.
