Our trip to the west went well. From October to January, we drove around. We stayed in Holiday Inn Expresses or with friends.
Or at the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park.
We listened to the Desert Oracle Radio podcast a lot.
We stayed in Palm Springs so we could visit the Joshua Tree National Park and see what Ken Layne was going on about.
We tried to see Lake Tahoe. Since we had to put chains on the truck to get there, we turned back to Reno.
Most important was US 50, "The Loneliest Road in America". Yes. This stretch of highway has branding. It has almost nothing else.
We loved it. We're going back.
BTW. Make sure you have chains. The mountains around here are high.
I read the entirety of The Veil while my partner drove. The book seems to work out well. They were delighted, and started throwing out ideas for Book 2. They wanted more of the characters, and they caught the hint about some of the bad guys getting away without being actually dead.
We're back in North Carolina, waiting to learn about the repairs after Hurrican Ian. We'll start for Florida in a month, or maybe two. Meanwhile, I'll do some non-fiction writing to help pay the bills.
