I'm querying a Western Horror title.

I'm writing another closely-related book.

There's a possibility of a series, but, my concept is a loosely-related collection of books rather than a conventional sequence of stories.

Why?

First, there's a narrow range of years between 1848 and 1865 where the US West was not utterly overrun with invaders (the term "settlers" is too kind.)

Second, and more important, the interesting locations -- places where the veil is thin -- are so widely varied and so far apart that it doesn't seem sensible to have a handful of MC's wandering all over the US desert southwest, getting into the wrong kind of trouble.

Finally -- and most important -- there's a notion of "finding home" in each book that's central. The MC's can't keep wandering and have a story that has kind of moral arc that feels satisfying to me.

And yes, as a nomad, the finding home thing is something I haven't done, myself. I can write about others who do find it, though.

See “The Quest" for something I'm doing as part of traveling (and writing.)
